Within a product range, increasing board thickness generally increases thermal resistance. Choose the thickness against your whole roof and ceiling specification. Matching thicknesses across brands does not establish identical performance.
Confirm the face finish and edge profile for the exact board. A grooved appearance, board joints and exposed beams all affect the final ceiling. Do not assume every thickness has the same edge or finish.

The direction of your boards can change the number of sheets, the selected length and the amount of trimming. Try both directions before opening your chosen product calculator.

For sloping ceilings, use dimensions measured along the ceiling surface. For several rooms or planned end joints, send a sketch for a project quote.
04 / Understand the quote
Your product calculator shows the selected board price, price per m² and full-board total. Use the same VAT basis when comparing options.
A 4.8m board with 600mm cover width covers 2.88m². Divide its price by 2.88 to find the board-material rate per m². Compare the same thickness and VAT basis.
A ceiling’s measured area and the area of boards you buy can differ. Whole boards, final-strip cuts and end trimming affect the order. Use your room dimensions in the product calculator.
Ask for the specified clips, compatible adhesive and trims in your quotation. Confirm delivery arrangements and request installation as a separate item when required.
Measure each ceiling separately and tell us your preferred brand, thickness and delivery suburb. Include a sketch where there are recesses, slopes or changes in board direction.
From supply to installation
Order your boards through Roof Insulations. For installation in Cape Town and surrounding areas, contact Cape Ceilings & Drywalling with your measurements, photographs and preferred finish.
Long boards need suitable transport and unloading access. Include your delivery location and any access restrictions when requesting a supply quote.

The Isoboard and Summit products on this page use extruded polystyrene, commonly called XPS. The thickness and installation system determine how the boards contribute to the finished roof and ceiling.
Compare the exact board specification, finish, available lengths, current price and delivery timing. Both ranges offer XPS boards, but a matching thickness alone does not prove equal thermal performance or identical installation requirements. Send a specified board schedule if you already have one.
Our product pages list these four thickness options. Choose against the required thermal performance and ceiling system, rather than price alone. Confirm the edge profile and lead time for thicker boards, particularly 80mm, before committing to the order.
No. Isoboard and Summit XPS are rigid insulation boards. Gyproc RhinoBoard and BEAM gypsum boards are plasterboard products used in specified ceiling and drywall systems. For those products, visit our Gypsum Ceiling Boards category.
Use the coating and preparation method recommended for the exact board. Summit specifies water-based paint and warns against solvents. Check the relevant manufacturer’s finishing instructions before painting or applying adhesive.
They provide thermal insulation, but whether additional insulation is required depends on the complete roof and ceiling design. Ask your designer or installer to check the required total performance. XPS ceiling boards should not be treated as a complete soundproofing system either.
Have your installer plan the supports, penetrations and required clearances. Lights and other fittings need the correct support and fixing method for the system; do not assume the board alone can carry their weight.
