Alububble combines polyethylene air cells with a reflective surface. The underside you choose changes the appearance of an exposed roof.

A light underside.
A white polyethylene face beneath the reflective upper surface. Consider it where the underside remains visible and a light finish is part of the design.

Match the membrane
to the roof.
Reflective roof underlays differ in their facing and reinforcement. Choose around the roof covering, supporting structure and specified installation.
Single Sided
One aluminium reflective face. A starting point for specified residential roof underlays where the reflective face can adjoin the required air space.
Double Sided
Reflective aluminium on both sides. Consider it when the roof design can use reflective surfaces on either side of the membrane; two faces do not automatically mean twice the insulation performance.
Industrial
The reinforced, heavier-grade option within the RadenShield range. Confirm the currently supplied grade, support details and documentation for your factory, warehouse or commercial roof.
Ecosential
An economy double-sided membrane. BMI’s current sheet identifies single-storey residential and low-cost housing applications, with an E-s3, d0 reaction-to-fire classification.
30m × 1.5m roll: 45m² gross, 40.5m² effective coverage.
Confirm the latest technical sheet and application limits for the exact grade being supplied. Ecosential and Industrial are separate specifications.

What makes foil
insulation work?
A good specification considers the reflective surface, the adjacent air space and the rest of the roof construction.
Give the reflective face room.
A radiant barrier needs an adjacent air space to perform as intended. Pressing the reflective surface against another material changes its thermal contribution.
Follow the selected product’s instructions for orientation, supports, overlaps and fixing.
Plan the roof as a system.
Suitable membranes can help manage vapour, dust and incidental moisture when correctly detailed. The roof covering, drainage paths, joints and ventilation still matter.
Foil is not a repair for a leaking roof, and a vapour barrier alone does not guarantee a condensation-free roof space.
Compare usable square metres.
Check grade, roll dimensions and effective coverage before comparing prices. A larger nominal roll is not necessarily the best value for the finished roof.
Compare quotations on the same VAT basis and include the required accessories and delivery.
Foil and bulk insulation
have different jobs.
Foil reduces radiant heat transfer across an air space; bulk insulation provides resistance through its thickness. They can work together in a designed roof system. Compare published R-values only when the test arrangement, air spaces and heat-flow direction are comparable. Explore ceiling insulation or Factorylite for industrial roofs as part of the complete specification.

How many rolls
will you need?
Use the actual roof surface area and an effective coverage figure to estimate whole rolls. Choose a verified preset or enter the coverage confirmed for your foil.
- Measure the roof surface to be covered. Floor area can underestimate a pitched roof.
- Select the product and usable coverage after its specified overlaps.
- Choose an extra allowance for cutting and layout, then ask us to confirm the order.
The presets already allow for the stated side overlap or manufacturer’s coverage guide. The extra allowance is additional; roof shape, end laps and offcuts can change the final quantity.

Reflective roof membranes are used to reduce radiant heat transfer across an air space. Depending on the product and installation, they can also provide a dust and vapour-control layer beneath roof coverings. Sisalation is a specific brand; this category also includes other reflective foil brands with their own specifications.
Which sisalation foil is best for my roof?
Start with the roof covering, building use, required fire classification and installation detail. Then compare reinforcement, exposed finish and effective coverage. A home, a public building and an industrial roof can need different specifications. Send the roof details if you need help narrowing the range.
Is double-sided foil always better than single-sided?
It provides a reflective face on both sides, but the benefit depends on the surrounding air spaces and roof arrangement. Choose the product specified for that construction. Colour, number of reflective faces and fire classification are separate considerations.
Does “FR” mean the foil is non-combustible?
FR means fire retardant; it does not, by itself, establish a non-combustible classification. Check the exact product certificate and test standard. For example, the current manufacturer sheets list FR405 as B-s1, d0, FR430 as B-s1, d1, and Alubrite 7070 and FireShield NC 502 as A2-s1, d0 under SANS 53501-1.
Will a 50m² roll cover 50m² of roof?
Usually less once the specified overlaps are included. Alubrite 7070 and the listed Sisalation grades state 44m² effective coverage from a 50m² roll at 150mm overlap. Other products use different widths, laps and coverage figures. Cuts and end laps also affect the total required.
Can I add foil to an existing roof?
Some products have approved retrofit methods, but access, fixing and air-space requirements need checking. Installation is generally easier while the roof is being built or re-covered. Follow the selected manufacturer’s retrofit detail and assess existing roof condition before ordering.
Can foil replace ceiling insulation?
Do not assume that a thin reflective layer can replace the specified bulk insulation. Thermal performance depends on the complete roof system. Foil and bulk insulation can be used together where the roof design calls for both.
How do I get sisalation foil prices and delivery?
